Fabmobil: Double-decker bus brings technology and creativity into the classroom!

The future of education is taking shape in Dippoldiswalde – and in a colorful double-decker bus! The Fabmobil association brings innovative lessons directly to the rural regions of Saxony. How Sächsische.de reports, this unusual project will be supported by the Free State until 2027 and offers students the opportunity to learn with modern technology in a relaxed environment.

The Fabmobil bus - a real technology paradise - is packed with 3D printers, laser cutters, laptops and other cool devices. In a very short time, the driven bus is transformed into a classroom in which a maximum of 16 students can let their creativity run wild. The lessons follow the motto “Learning by doing” and thus stand out clearly from conventional learning methods.

Practical experience in technology

Robert Kurzel, a student assistant studying for a master's degree in product and communication design, often travels in the Fabmobile. “I work with the team five to six times a year to introduce the students to the world of technology,” he says. Kurzel is one of a total of 50 employees who are passionate about spreading enthusiasm for 3D printing, virtual reality and robotics to young people in rural areas. The aim is to arouse students' interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and innovative technologies.

At a time when digital skills are becoming increasingly important, the Fabmobil offers a valuable alternative to traditional routes to school. The bus recently stopped in Schmiedeberg and caused enthusiasm among the students there. Saxony's Minister of Education, Conrad Clemens, is enthusiastic about this unique concept.

Conclusion: A creative learning adventure

The Fabmobil sets a new standard for education in rural areas of Saxony. This is not just about dry cramming, but about real, practical learning. This innovative approach could have a future and sustainably promote interest in technical careers and digital media. Sometimes all it takes is a little creative spark to get students excited about learning! And that is exactly what is possible in a double-decker bus. A good step in the right direction for tomorrow's education.
