Motorcyclists crash into cars: three injured on the S164!

On Sunday afternoon, November 3, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident in the Saxon Switzerland-Oster Ore Mountains district, which caused some concerned voices to cry out. At around 3:55 p.m., passers-by unfortunately witnessed a drama when a 24-year-old motorcyclist lost control of his Honda. The young man got into the opposite lane in a right-hand bend on State Road 164 between Lohmen and Dobra, where he had his first collision with an oncoming BMW. But that wasn't enough: the motorcyclist then collided with a Renault, which made the chaos perfect.

In the incident, not only the motorcyclist but also the two occupants of the Renault, 41 and 62 years old, were slightly injured and had to be taken to hospital. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. Rumors are making the rounds about the condition of the vehicles and the amount of damage is also raising eyebrows: it is estimated at around 20,000 euros. Both the Renault and the Honda had to be towed away, while the BMW was fortunately able to continue its journey independently.

Investigations and traffic accident research

The police have already started investigations into the accident, and experts from traffic accident research at the Technical University of Dresden were also on site to shed light on the matter. The S164 remained closed until 7 p.m., which caused unrest among residents. Unfortunately, such accidents are not uncommon: According to ADAC accident research, motorcyclists have a four times higher risk of accidents than other road users. Over 20% of traffic fatalities in Germany are motorcyclists, often due to solo accidents or collisions with cars, which makes the dangers of the road all the more obvious. The ADAC statistics also make it clear that country roads pose particular risks, as a significant proportion of serious accidents occur there.

A particularly worrying factor is that, according to ADAC research, over 85% of accidents in their database result in serious or even fatal injuries. Often it's not just driving skills that decide between life and death, but also weather conditions and distractions at the wheel. Experts therefore urge constant caution and recommend regularly questioning your own driving style.

Finally, it is hoped that the people affected will recover quickly and that this incident is an important lesson for all road users to be careful and take the risks on the road seriously.
