A new experience restaurant is waiting to open in Bannewitz – Timberjacks. Originally planned for the end of 2023, the opening will now be postponed to the beginning of 2026. The reason is the insolvency of a kitchen construction company and the associated delays in the construction phase. Mayor Wersig announced that the final touches are now being completed for the new restaurant on the B170, below the Simmel Center, before the doors can be opened to hungry guests. Another highlight is the planned offer of live music and the opportunity to relax by the fireplace. Originally, a larger restaurant and a hotel were integrated into the concept, but increased construction costs led to the hotel being canceled. This reduced the restaurant's capacity from 500 to 370 seats. The construction work uses an innovative building material from Saxony-Anhalt that is environmentally friendly and does not produce any carbon dioxide during production. Fancy Dresden adds that waste such as ash and slag are also used to produce the material, further reducing the ecological footprint.
