Königstein high school: Successful recertification as a national park school!

There is currently great joy at the Königstein secondary school! At the end of June June, the recertification of the school as a national park school took place on the impressive Königstein for Fortress. In addition to the students and teachers, representatives of the city of Königstein and the National Park and Forest Administration of Saxony Forest took part in this solemn ceremony. Cooperation with cooperation partners such as the Königstein fortress and the State Stages of Saxony were also recognized

The Königstein secondary school received the title of the national park school for the first time in 2019. Today's recertification is the second after the already in 2022. In order to defend this title, certain criteria must be fulfilled that have played a major role for school and environmental education over the years. This includes, among other things, the integration of topics of the national park, such as flora and fauna, into the school program, regular participation in environmental education events and further training for teachers by the National Park and Forestry Administration. Cooperation with cooperation partners is also an important part, whereby the results of these cooperation must be documented.

As part of the recertification ceremony, a colorful program was offered, which the pupils designed together with the State Stages of Saxony. Music and theater created the right mood and showed how closely the school and its partners are now connected. Education for sustainable development was capitalized here, and the appreciations by the representatives of the National Park School and its partners underlined the success of this cooperation.

The Königstein secondary school is not only an educational institution, but also a significant part of the regional ecosystem. Through the learned content and the practical application of these topics, the pupils are optimally prepared for the challenges of an environmentally conscious future. It is to be hoped that the good work will continue and that the next recertification will make such a celebration possible again in three years!
