Pine conquers Pirna: New statue honors children's blogger in bronze!
The picturesque old town of Pirna has a new highlight: a larger-than-life statue of Schlosserei-Pine, which now adorns Schmiedestrasse. This bronze statue is from the traditional Thiele locksmith's shop was donated, stands high up and shows a large key in her right hand while her left hand points at something. This artistic representation of the children's blogger Pine, a creation of the illustrator Axel Bierwolf, has taken the hearts of many citizens by storm.
The statue is not only the ninth figure in the “Pirnaer Knirpse” series, but is also the heaviest at an impressive 11.2 kg. “Pine” has been a children's blogger since she started in 2019 www.pine-pirna.de made a name for himself and has already experienced numerous adventures.
A look at the symbols
The statue is supported by a sturdy beam that protrudes from the historic building at Schmiedestrasse 40. This beam is said to represent steel construction, while the key Pine holds indicates the importance of a locksmith. This is part of a larger city marketing project that aims to recognize volunteer work in Pirna.
City marketing has big plans: a total of around 20 figures are being planned, with five more already in final production. The next statue that will enrich the city will be the Inclusion Pine, followed by other creative ideas such as the Artisan Pine and the Wine Pine.
Pirna unites – a campaign with vision
Pine's statue is a culmination of a broader campaign called “Pirna united,” which began in April with the planting of a tree at Geibeltbad. The project aims to bring together different aspects of the city and strengthen the community. The finale of this exciting initiative took place on December 16, 2024 with the official presentation of the “Pirnaer Knirpse”.
The small bronze figures, which weigh around four kilograms, symbolize the four areas of sport, youth, culture and social affairs. Interesting locations in the old town were chosen: the sports pine at the cyclist stop on the Elbe cycle path, the social pine at the small playground above the market, the youth pine, which skates on the castle steps, and the cultural pine, which sits at the shop window of the city library.
The great popularity of the figures illustrates the solidarity and commitment of the citizens of Pirna. Interested citizens can still apply for their own figures through city marketing, which shows how lively city life is in Pirna. It will be interesting to see what the next steps in this creative development will bring.
