SC Freital II celebrates promotion! Proud and farewell to coach Kessler

The football world in Saxony is currently upside down, and not without reason. Empor Glauchau has taken the crown in the Saxony football league, but SC Freital II is causing a sensation with an outstanding triumph in the Saxony class East - the team has won the title and is celebrating promotion to the top Saxon league. This is reported by the Saxon.

In the thrilling duel against Neusalza-Spremberg, the team from Freital was able to prevail and thus achieve a great success. “We are proud of the sporting progress,” said Daniel Wirth, head of the Freital football department. These words reflect the pride and anticipation of the challenges ahead.

Ascent and descent

The class change brings with it a breath of fresh air and new goals. In the Sachsenliga, the highest division of the Saxon Football Association, 16 teams meet each other - and the champion has the opportunity to be promoted directly to the NOFV-Oberliga-Süd. Relegation is also an important issue: four teams from the Saxony East class have to make the bitter journey to the state class. These include well-known names such as Hartmannsdorfer SV Empor, Heidenauer SV, TSV Cossebaude and TSV Rotation Dresden, who fought for points one last time on the last matchday.

The last games of the 2025 season are on the program next Sunday, including exciting encounters such as Rotation Dresden against Wesenitztal and Chemie Dohna against Neusalza-Spremberg. SC Freital II also has a final chapter to play in the 7th league with its last game against SG Weixdorf.

Change of coach causes discussions

Another aspect that is causing discussion is the change in the coaching bench at SC Freital II. Nico Kessler will coach his last game for the Freital team on Sunday before Uwe Rahle takes over the team's fortunes. It remains to be seen how this change will affect his future career.

Another reason to be happy is the move of Eric Zimmermann, who is moving to SG Striesen after 14 years at the club. “These are big shoes to fill,” said a fan of SC Freital II. Other clubs are also facing changes: coach Jens Wagner from VfL Pirna-Copitz was released early and is moving to TSV Cossebaude from July 1st.

Finally, the Saxon Football Association is optimistic about the future. The framework schedule for the 2025/26 season has been approved, and the opening and the season meeting of the Sachsenliga are scheduled for August 8th. Before that, however, the teams can test their strengths in the current season.

It remains exciting to see what the new season will bring, both for the promoted and relegated teams. It is clear that football in Saxony is still full of surprises.
