In the early morning hours of November 4, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident on the Stolpener Landstraße (S159) near Stolpen, in which two drivers were injured. The 64-year-old driver of a VW van was overtaking a truck on a straight stretch when there was a head-on collision with a Dacia Duster driven by a 73-year-old man. Despite the truck slamming on the brakes, the two cars were unable to stop in time and ended up in the ditch. The impact was so severe that both drivers had to be taken to hospital.

The elderly driver behind the wheel of the Dacia Duster was seriously injured, while the van driver only sustained minor injuries. The material damage amounts to around 15,000 euros. The road was completely closed to traffic until around 2:15 p.m. as the Rennersdorf-Neudörfel fire brigade was on duty to secure the situation and rescue the vehicles from the ditch.
