5,000 runners donate a record amount for children with cancer in Vogtland!
A truly sporting event caused a sensation in Vogtland in the summer. Over 5,000 runners laced up their shoes at the Plauen company run and sent a strong message for a good cause. As the Free press reported, a donation of 3 euros was made to the “Help for Children with Cancer in the Saxon Vogtland Foundation” for each participant, which resulted in a total of 15,000 euros. The donation was handed over recently, and foundation chairman Tassilo Lenk was pleased with the enormous response.
The concept of the company run, which was realized in collaboration with the Volksbank, impressively shows how sport and social responsibility can go hand in hand. Andreas Hostalka, a board member of Volksbank, emphasized the importance of such events and appealed to companies to continue to get involved in social projects in the future.
Looking forward to the next run
The anticipation for the next company run is already noticeable. Registration for the 12th company run in Vogtland has officially opened, and anyone who wants to take part should quickly go to the new website www.volksbank-laufen.de look around. The participants are divided into three groups: starters, peloton and walkers. There is something for every fitness level. A highlight for the athletes: everyone receives a medal as a souvenir of the event.
Charity runs at a glance
Such charity events are not only popular in Vogtland; Around 200 fundraising runs take place across Germany every year. Loud HDSports Spectators and amateur runners can support various good causes, with part or even all of the proceeds often being donated. For example, some events do not have a fixed distance, but are based on laps, which makes it easier for even inexperienced people to take part.
With this multitude of opportunities to do good through sport, it becomes clear once again: In Vogtland and beyond, there is a strong focus on community and supporting social causes. The athletes show that with a lot of effort you can not only improve your fitness, but also have a positive influence on the lives of others.
