Göltzschtal municipalities secure 1.5 million euros for youth culture!

A lot is happening around the Göltzschtal region! The four communities of Auerbach, Rodewisch, Falkenstein and Ellefeld can look forward to promoting a whopping 1.5 million euros from the federal program "Allen Land". This reports Blick . A total of 77 regions had asked for financial support, and 30 of them were selected. The goal of funding? To create new cultural offers for young people in the next five years and thus fight against emigration from rural areas.

project manager Sina Herold is convinced of the idea of actively involving young people in the planning. "We have the chance to create structures together that are important for our region," she says. In addition to financial support, there will also be professional support and qualification offers. A special location will be the station building in Falkenstein, where renovation work is currently underway to establish a socio -cultural center by the end of 2026.

The plans for the new center are promising - from festivals to workshops. The Rodewisch music school also finds its new place here. The total costs for the renovation of the station building are over five million euros, and this creates a new linchpin for culture and encounter in the region.

As part of the “All Land” program, there is even more behind this funding; as Stadt-auerbach.de , promotes the concept of the medium-century city association Göltzschtal in rural areas by cultural, artistic creative projects. The federal government has provided almost 70 million euros for the next few years to strengthen democracy through citizen participation and cultural projects.

The first level of development is funded at 40,000 euros each and is to be completed by June 2025. This is followed by another competition in which concrete projects can be supported with up to 1.5 million euros. Thanks to this initiative, the four Göltzschtal municipalities not only have the opportunity to enliven their cultural landscape, but also give young people a perspective.

prospects for the future

The mayors of the municipalities presented the project on January 11, 2024 and unveiled that great interest in the project was already shown in Berlin at the opening event to announce the participants on December 14, 2023. High political prominence, including Bundestag Vice President Yvonne Magwas, campaigned for the project.

So it is not just about financial means, but also about creating new visions and developing a sense of community in the region. The first ideas for the future cultural offers will be discussed as part of two future-cultural festivals, and the preparation for this has already started. The citizens of the Göltzschtal municipalities can look forward to a lively and young future!
