15 years of FSV Zwickau: records, memories and the voice of the club

A lot has happened at FSV Zwickau recently, and the voices from the club are becoming more clearly audible. Daniel Sacher, the club's press spokesman, has experienced many ups and downs in his 15 years in office. Particularly notable was an incident in which he lost his composure and became a viral hit. Sacher describes that FSV Zwickau set a club record during the last summer break, generating a remarkable 25 million views across the club's social media channels. He described this as “cool” and a sign of a “brutal development” of the club, as the Freie Presse reports.

Next weekend Zwickau will be even more colorful because the FSV is supporting the “Many Ways for Zwickau” campaign. Over 70 local companies, retailers, associations and clubs are part of the alliance, which was founded in 2021 to promote a cosmopolitan Zwickau. The association sees the alliance's values as congruent with its own and encourages its members to take part in civil society activities on May 1st. This is particularly important since the right-wing extremist group “Third Way” marched through Zwickau in 2022 and the FSV responded to a protest at the time, as the Saxony Fire Department highlights.

A strong sign against racism

FSV Zwickau also applied as a pilot location for the “Football Club Against Racism” project and received a confirmation. The aim of this project is to work against racism and discrimination through awareness campaigns and educational offerings. This initiative is part of the diverse activities taking place as part of the International Weeks Against Racism from March 17 to 30, 2025. The DFL, the DFL Foundation and 36 professional clubs from the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga work together here to promote diversity, tolerance, compassion, cohesion and respect. In its action weeks, the DFL is under the motto "TOGETHER! Stop hate. Be a team." It is clearly clear that racism has no place in football.

These developments show that FSV Zwickau is not only active in the sporting field, but also plays an important role in social engagement. At a time when the regions are facing many challenges, the association sets an example for solidarity and diverse cooperation. The commitment of FSV Zwickau to support civil society offerings and active participation in anti-racism projects are signs of positive development that are of great importance for the community in Zwickau.
