25 years of water fun: Limbach-Oberfrohna celebrates 24-hour swimming!

The swimming and diving club (STV) in Limbach-Oberfrohna is celebrating a very special anniversary this year: the 25th 24-hour swim is just around the corner! Next Saturday morning at 10 a.m. the starting shot will be given in the “Limbomar” leisure pool. Swimmers of all ages are invited to swim their laps until Sunday at 10 a.m. Anyone who can swim at least 100 meters in one go can take part and contribute to this popular event. The atmosphere is always a highlight – not only for the participants, but also for the spectators.

The conditions for participation are simple: After the minimum distance of 100 meters, participants are allowed to swim as many additional distances as they want, each at least 50 meters long. Swimming aids? There is no such thing - what counts here is pure personal effort! Each participant will be rewarded with a certificate for their efforts, while the top three finishers in each age group will be awarded medals. In addition, a challenge cup awaits the winning team. A special rule states that teams that win the trophy three times in a row are allowed to keep it. An incentive to awaken the ambitious competitive spirit!

A varied supporting program

Aside from the competition, there is also a colorful supporting program this year. A grill stand and a cake bazaar ensure your physical well-being. The little guests don't miss out either - they can get creative in the craft street and during trial diving in the teaching pool. As a nostalgic look back, there will be a journey through time with photos and information material from previous years. A special highlight will be the honoring of Günter Schmeißer, a club legend who became world champion in his age group in Singapore.

Thanks are due not only to the active swimmers, but also to the sponsors, supporters and helpers who make the event possible. Last year, the 24-hour swim was also a complete success, thanks to the participants from the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium (ASG). They recently secured the title and were pleased with their successful title defense in the 24th 24-hour swim. The ASG swimming relay team performed impressively with a score of 80,093.5 and a lead of almost 6,000 points over the runner-up. An excellent example that leaves you wanting more!

A sport for everyone

The 24-hour swim is much more than a competition. It unites generations and promotes cohesion within the club. Whether active swimmers or families – everyone is welcome to collect their meters. Sponsors support the event by donating a contribution for every meter covered. Not only are personal bests achieved, but an important contribution is also made to the club. The fun factor is high at this event - and not just for the participants, but also for everyone who gets to experience the hustle and bustle in the leisure pool up close.

The 25th 24-hour swim promises to be an exciting weekend full of sport, community and unforgettable memories. Be there when the floods shake again in the “Limbomar”!
