Beach volleyball tournament in Lichtenstein canceled – what happened?
At the weekend you couldn't enjoy a beach volleyball tournament at the former youth hostel in Lichtenstein. Organizer Sascha Grieshammer had to cancel the event planned for Sunday due to a disappointingly low number of participants. With only three teams registered, the response was far below expectations, which may also be due to unclear reasons, which Grieshammer did not explain in more detail. However, fans of the sport need not worry, as there are already positive prospects for a new event on August 3rd that promises more excitement.
Beach volleyball is much more than just a leisure activity. This exciting team sport, which is played on a clay court with two players per team, has rapidly gained popularity since its introduction in the 1990s. The aim of the game is to hit the ball into the opponent's court with your hands or arms, and a point is awarded for each point that cannot be returned. The rules are clear and fair, making beach volleyball an extremely dynamic and entertaining sport. Olympics.com informs us that this sport was introduced as a demonstration sport in Barcelona in 1992 and officially became Olympic in 1996.
Mixed beach volleyball and events
An exciting format is the mixed tournament, where men and women compete together. Interest in such mixed events is constantly growing, but the low number of entries in Lichtenstein shows that there is still a lot of need to raise awareness of this type of sport. Registration for tournaments is done via the “BeachLiga” app, which makes it easier for players to register for events - a modern solution in the digital world. With just a few simple steps you can quickly register and even create your own player profile. MixedBeachTour.ch provides all the necessary information, from downloading the app to payment options, which will soon also include Google Pay and Apple Pay.
There is good news for beach volleyball enthusiasts who are looking forward to new challenges: In addition to the usual tournaments, there are also events taking place in central Switzerland and the app provides current tournament data. There are even “goodie packages” available for participants to further enhance the experience.
What's next?
The cancellation of the tournament in Lichtenstein may be a setback, but the anticipation of the upcoming event in August and the numerous options offered by the BeachLiga app show that the sport is still very popular. Many athletes are already longing for a return to beach volleyball, after all, this sport not only puts you in a good mood on the beach, but also brings together community and a sense of competition. Who knows, maybe we'll see full fields again at the next tournaments. An event pass for the coming months is definitely recommended so that you don't miss out on the best games.
