Fantasy at the reservoir: Fair of dreams and lantern magic in Halle!

A lot is currently happening at the Oberwald reservoir, and the Helmnot team is busy bringing creative projects to life. How View reports, the entire area will be revitalized with new attractions. Preparations for the upcoming lantern festival in Halle an der Saale are already in full swing and the team will be at the start with its “Fairn of Dreams” and an impressive 650 meter long lantern avenue. These festivities should not only find a home in Halle, but also directly at the Oberwald reservoir.

There is great anticipation for the Lantern Festival. In addition to the fairytale-like sparkling cars, for which an impressive 85,000 euros were invested, visitors will also be delighted by a wood workshop and a nostalgic restaurant car. Finally, the remains of a former Wild West village on the southern bank of the reservoir will be revitalized, according to the plans of the Helmnot team in cooperation with Wunderräume GmbH.

Infrastructure and financial support

A not insignificant part of the investments goes into expanding the necessary infrastructure at the reservoir. This includes the creation of access roads, escape routes and the construction of a wastewater tank. The local Tourismus und Sport GmbH is taking the lead in further developing the location. These measures are supported by funding from the PMO, which comes from the assets of the former GDR.

Dirk Grünig and his team have already invested several hundred thousand euros to put these ideas into practice. A main incentive for the project was the conviction of the supervisory board of Tourismus & Sport GmbH, which rated the application of the two regional creative companies as extremely promising. A contract was concluded in October 2019, which forms the basis for the development of this innovative world of experience, as shown on the website Helmet distress can be read in detail.

Long-term vision and further projects

With its support, the Saxon state government emphasizes that this plan makes a major contribution to cultural and adventure tourism. The project is supported by, among others, Ms. Klepsch, Saxon State Minister for Culture & Tourism, who offers her advisory help. Over the years, various specialist plans for infrastructure work have been carried out here, such as Media service Saxony reported that they not only looked at the necessary technical aspects, but also focused on promoting volunteerism and a sense of community in the region.

There are currently no clear answers to the question of when the first events will take place at the reservoir. What is certain, however, is that the Helmnot team has a lot to do. The current utilization of seven months is significant progress compared to just a year and a half before Corona. Despite the challenges that are emerging in the cultural scene, Dirk Grünig is optimistic and satisfied with the development at the reservoir.
