Isabelle Zimmer brings bronze for SG Meerane 02 from the state youth games!

The badminton season in Saxony comes to an end with pleasant news! At the state youth games in Dresden, the talented Isabelle Zimmer from SG Meerane 02 won valuable precious metal. Together with her partner Leni Töpfer from SG Bräunsdorf, she achieved third place in the U 13 age group. In an exciting opening game, they defeated the Duo Klemm/White from BV Niedersedlitz, but had to surrender to the later winners Krüger/Zhang from Gittersee in the semifinals. These successes once again show how strong the badminton youngsters are in the region and how much potential is in the young players, such as the Freie Presse reported.

The SG Meerane 02 can also look back on an interesting season in the district league. After returning in 2022, the team was able to stabilize their performance and this time landed in sixth place out of a total of eight teams. With a record of 10:18 points and a game ratio of 53:59 you were six points ahead of BV Marienberg II and seven points in front of BC Stollberg-Niederdorf II. It is particularly noteworthy that this year the team mainly started with the same players as in the previous year, apart from Julia Wecken, who moved to the first team.

seasonal highlights and player statistics

The SG Meerane 02 was able to achieve four wins, two draws and eight defeats in a total of 14 games. The players were strong in both singles and in doubles. The results against the three strongest teams in the league, such as TSV Niederwürschnitz II and BV Annaberg-Buchholz, were hard Brocken, but the team managed to win two bräunsdorf against the fourth.

  • Enrico Wunderlich: 15:13 Balance, many successes in the first men's singles
  • Diana Kahlich: 11:17 Balance for women

The season was anything but broken, as most games were held in the hustle and bustle. Of the total of 14 games, there were only one home game and six guest performances. A good reason why the team chemistry and training among the players clearly play an important role in the inside, as the SG Meerane website aptly determines SG Meerane 02.
