Müller wins CFC's fifth victory - cheers after a whistle concert!
On Saturday, Chemnitzer FC celebrated an important win against Hertha Zehlendorf and was finally able to get three points again after four games without success. With a 2-1 win, the Chemnitz team not only secured their fifth win of the season, but also set an example for the coming games. In the match, which took place in front of 3,400 spectators, it was captain Tobias Müller who scored the decisive goal in the 57th minute. This was an important turning point for the Duda team.
The CFC started the game brilliantly: Jonas Marx gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the second minute. But after this early goal, the team struggled and soon had to face the pressure from Hertha Zehlendorf. In the 9th minute, goalkeeper Daniel Adamczyk made a save to prevent Niklas Doll from equalizing with a header. Shortly before the half-time whistle, an unfortunate situation arose: after a foul by Julius Bochmann on Iba May, a penalty was given to Hertha, which Doll safely converted - 1-1 at the break.
A change in the team
The first half ended with a whistle concert from the CFC's own fans, which increased the pressure on the team. Coach Benjamin Duda surprised with his line-up: Johannes Pistol made his comeback in attack and Roman Eppendorfer took on a defensive role at right-back, while Felix Müller sat on the bench for the first time this season. Jonas Marx made a strong comeback and played from the start for the first time since matchday 9. Müller, who has been playing for Chemnitz since 2018 and has been captain since 2021, expressed gratitude for the trust and his willingness to represent the team in the best possible way.
In the second half the team showed an improved performance. After several header attempts that did not bring the desired result, Tobias Müller redeemed the fans in the 57th minute with his goal to make it 2-1, prepared by Tobias Stockinger. Although Marx had another chance to make it 3-1 in the 83rd minute, it remained a narrow victory - the first after four winless games.
Opportunities for promotion in the regional league
The CFC is still in the race for promotion places. In the Regionalliga Nordost, a maximum of four teams are promoted to the 3rd league, which means for Chemnitz that every win counts. The location and the development of the players, including talents like Jonas Marx and Tobias Müller, give the club hope for successful months. Some important players such as Daniel Adamczyk and Felix Müller are listed on Transfermarkt with a market value of 150 and 75 thousand euros respectively, which suggests a promising future for the team Transfermarkt.
With every day played, the Chemnitz offensive gains more momentum. The next games will show whether the team will find the necessary consistency under Duda. The fans can look forward to seeing how developments continue over the course of the season and whether the CFC will give fans many more reasons to be happy this season.
