New building in Neuplanitz: 20 modern terraced houses for the future!

Something is happening in Neuplanitz! The city of Zwickau has big plans, because construction of new terraced houses is scheduled to begin on Allendestraße from the beginning of 2026. The Zwickau building and property company (GGZ) is responsible for the project and wants to create a total of 20 modern residential units here. Department head Steven Simmon describes the initiative as an exciting step towards a new quality of living that not only offers families and couples accessible urban living in the countryside, but is also intended to strengthen the district's attractiveness. In addition to the apartments, 20 garages and attractive outdoor facilities are also planned. After the old apartment blocks were demolished, there is now space for modern, urban life.

But that's just the beginning! As wewobau GmbH reports, the development of the road will be carried out in two phases. The partial dismantling of the buildings at Allendestraße 2-8 and 10-20 will begin in January 2025. The goal is to develop a modern and livable neighborhood that meets the needs of its residents and at the same time provides impetus for the city of Zwickau. Visible changes can already be seen on the construction site on Allendestrasse, and the tree felling work has now been completed. A redesign is scheduled to be completed by 2027 and will create an attractive, green living environment with good connections to the city center.

From the old building to the new building – a change with structure

The renovation in Neuplanitz is not new. The planned terraced house complex is part of a more comprehensive neighborhood development plan that has already been implemented in recent years. Old buildings on Neuplanitzer Strasse were demolished between 2021 and 2022 to make room for modern structures. The current partial dismantling on Allendestraße continues the transformation. The aim is to create a cross-generational space - an important feature in order to promote functioning coexistence.

A look beyond the horizon shows that such neighborhood developments are important not only in Zwickau, but throughout Germany. According to the publication by the German Association of Cities, neighborhoods are independent areas for action and planning that face municipal challenges. It becomes clear that social cohesion and cooperation in the planning phase are crucial in order to successfully overcome the upcoming transformation challenges.
