New momentum in Saxon football: SC Freital and the search for a coach begins!
Preparations for the new 2025/26 football season are in full swing! SC Freital has already taken the first steps to get fit for the coming challenges. With a coaching trio consisting of Christopher Beck, Paul Rabe and Marian Weinhold, the signs are good for the new season. They start on the 2nd/3rd. August with the league game against FC Grimma. Things will get exciting for the fans earlier, because the Freital team will play their first test match against FSV Zwickau in the WGF Arena on Friday at 6:30 p.m. A real treat for all supporters of the club!
The draw for the first two rounds of the Saxony Cup will also take place on Friday, with the first matches in the first round on the 16th/17th. August and the 2nd round on the 6th/7th. September. Interesting: The third division teams, such as FC Erzgebirge Aue, and the Saxon regional league teams only enter the second round. This could certainly make for exciting games.

The Sachsenliga, the highest division of the Saxon Football Association, has changed enormously in recent times. New newcomers to the league have joined SC Freital II, Lipsia Eutritzsch and Tanne Thalheim. The league itself consists of 16 teams fighting for the championship title, with the aim of being promoted directly to the NOFV-Oberliga-Süd. FC Lokomotive Leipzig shows how popular the league is - and interest in regional football remains unbroken. SV Bannewitz has announced its first new additions, while SV Wesenitztal has made major changes to its squad, with several new additions.
