Sting inspires 11,300 fans in Zwickau: A concert in a class of its own!

Sting's concert on June 12, 2025 at the Völkerfreundschaft Square in Zwickau not only increased the number of spectators, but also tested the expectations of the event organization. With an official audience of 11,300, the performance of the 73-year-old global star, who once shaped the music landscape as the frontman of the legendary band Police, was a real event. As the Free press reported, the square was not exclusively filled with fans during the concert - many parked cars could also be seen.

Sting, real name Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, enjoyed an enthusiastic audience. Hundreds of onlookers followed the concert live, although they were unable to find a place inside due to the barriers. This impressively shows how much interest there was in his appearance. The evening was opened by Sophie Gray as the opening act, who warmed up the audience before Sting took the stage with his three-piece band. In addition to Sting himself, who invites you to an acoustic experience, his musical accompaniment includes drummer Chris Maas and guitarist Dominic Miller. Miller, a long-time partner of Sting, brings his creativity and expertise, which is crucial to the atmosphere of the show.

A journey through music history

The show under the title “Sting 3.0” offered a fireworks display of unforgettable hits from Sting's time with The Police as well as popular solo titles. From his wealth of classics, pieces such as “Message in a Bottle”, “Fields of Gold” and “Every Breath You Take” were performed. New arrangements and less frequently played rarities also found their place. Sting is not only known as a music master, but also as a 17-time Grammy winner who impresses with his authenticity and relies less on elaborate show elements. The focus was on his musical ability, which was well received by the fans.

The tour through Germany in June 2025, which covers several cities in total, began on June 6th in Hanover and continued to Heilbronn, Mönchengladbach, Rostock and finally Zwickau before continuing to Kiel on June 14th. The concerts promise a mix of Sting's best-known hits and new releases, with new songs such as “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” – released on September 5, 2024 – also being presented. This tour is a real highlight for music lovers, and fans from various cities, including Berlin, flocked to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. The ticket sales have already aroused great interest: over 11,000 tickets were available and quickly went over the counter, which is a source of joy for the organizers and fans alike.

The View paints an atmospheric picture: Sting's music could also be experienced acoustically and visually for guests outside the barriers. It remains to be seen what changes the organizer will make for future concerts in order to meet the high demand and expectations.

It remains to be seen whether there will be more than the parked cars next time or whether the number of spectators will continue to increase - but one thing is clear: Sting remains an experience that should not be missed.
