SV Motor Meerane: Anniversary of the hockey field delights visitors!

On October 1st, 2025 a special celebration took place at SV Motor Meerane. The club celebrated the inauguration of its hockey field, which was built over 30 years ago. The ceremony was not only a look back at the history of the field, but also a tribute to the passion and commitment of the club members for the sport of hockey. The Free Press reports that former treasurer Ute Feistel remembered the words of then mayor Peter Ohl, which were crucial for initiating the construction project. “The Meeran hockey players need their own place,” was the statement that is still remembered today.

During the celebration there were not only reviews, but also active participation. Former players of the club had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills again and played an exciting hockey match. Sport has a long tradition at SV Motor Meerane, and most members are actively involved in hockey. The club's hockey team currently plays at regional league level and has made a name for itself in East Germany. On the official website of SV Motor Meerane The numerous training offers for different age groups are documented, which aim to introduce young people in particular to the fun of exercise and the sport of hockey.

Children and young people in focus

The training offers at SV Motor Meerane are extremely diverse and are aimed at children aged four and over. The youngest athletes, the minis, are looked after by coach Andreas Dietzel.
