Top transfer for BSV Sachsen Zwickau: Petersen takes off!
July 1, 2025 not only marks the start of training at BSV Sachsen Zwickau, but also a welcome new addition: Silje Brons Petersen, an experienced 30-year-old player, is moving from Aalborg to the Bundesliga and should give the club a more worry-free season. After an exciting last season in which BSV was only able to secure their stay in the league in the playoff against Bayer Leverkusen, the club management believes that Petersen will make a decisive contribution to mastering the challenges of the coming season. Her contract runs until 2027 and promises to offer a secure perspective.
With six years of experience in the Bundesliga, through stints in Blomberg-Lippe and Metzingen, Petersen brings both individual class and team spirit. Assistant coach Dietmar Schmidt emphasizes that the squad is stronger this year, among other things through the signing of national players. The current squad consists of 13 players, although there is still a need for the right back and left wing positions. The team is also focusing on other newcomers such as Romé Steverink from the Netherlands, Charlotte Kähr from Switzerland and Julia Niewiadomska from Poland.
Coaching team in transition
The situation in the coaching team is also interesting: While head coach Norman Rentsch is currently on vacation, Schmidt and Rita Lakatos, who ended her active career after a shoulder injury, are taking over the training. It turns out that the motivation and team spirit at BSV Sachsen Zwickau are high. Schmidt is optimistic and believes in a stronger performance this season. The first training sessions have already taken place, followed by a phase of twelve days off for individual training.
Speaking of challenges: There is already a first highlight this season. The cup game against MSV Handball Dresden is scheduled for the third weekend in August and promises exciting encounters. The start of the season in the Bundesliga takes place a week after the cup game and takes the team once again onto the big stage of German handball.
A new name for the league
Numerous player transfers that will shake up the league have already been announced in the summer of 2025. New additions include names like Alina Grijseels from Bucharest and Melinda Szikora from France, who could further raise the league's standard. There was also a notable departure from Zwickau with Julia Niewiadomska, while other players like Dana Gruner joined the team. The coming months promise interesting developments for both Zwickau and the entire league.
The anticipation for the coming season is palpable, and those responsible at BSV Sachsen Zwickau are convinced that the right mix of experience and fresh talent will play a key role in success.
