Zwickau celebrates friendly win: 2-1 against Freital in front of enthusiastic fans!

Last Friday, FSV Zwickau played its first pre-season test match against SC Freital and scored the first three points. The game, which took place in front of 511 spectators, ended with a 2-1 win for Zwickau. In the first few minutes, the Freital team took the reins when Philip Weidauer took the lead in the second minute. This goal was the first for Zwickau in this preparation.

But FSV Zwickau did not let this early setback deter them. In the 32nd minute, Lucas Albert equalized with a spectacular overhead kick from ten meters. The Freital team also had a good chance in the 36th minute with a shot off the post by Bruno Schiemann, but they were unable to take advantage of it. Felix Pilger headed just wide of the goal in the 50th minute, so that it was only Lucas Albert who scored the decisive 2-1 for Zwickau in the 62nd minute.

New momentum in pre-season preparation

With this victory, FSV Zwickau shows that they want to get off to the best possible start in preparation for the regional league season. Coach Rico Schmitt welcomes six new arrivals, including the new goalkeeper Jasper Kühn from Hertha Zehlendorf as well as several outfield players who will strengthen the team. The aim is not only to make progress on a sporting level, but also to consolidate economically. With a clear focus on sustainable development, the club started selling season tickets, and interest is great: after just five hours, 340 tickets had already been sold.

The Zwickau fans support their team with a lot of enthusiasm. Around 200 spectators came to a public training session in the “GGZ Arena” to watch the team take its first steps in the new season. This enthusiasm will probably continue in the coming test matches. The next meeting is on Wednesday against VfB Auerbach, followed by other games, including against 1. FC Nürnberg II on July 12th and a special highlight, the “VW Cup” on July 20th, where well-known opponents such as Dynamo Dresden and VfL Wolfsburg will be guests.

A look at the preparations

The preparation time is tight, with a total of nine test games and a tournament planned on the way to the Regionalliga-Northeast. The first matchday, which falls on the weekend of July 26th and 27th, will show how well Zwickau is ready. Coach Schmitt is aiming for 60 points in the new season, which sets his sights on promotion. Interested fans can look forward to special “cup packages” that commemorate historical successes and include exclusive experiences such as a personal handover of the season ticket by a player.

With this dynamic approach, FSV Zwickau wants to gain a foothold not only in sports but also economically. Further information and news can be found on the club's official website at fsv-zwickau.de.
