The city cycling in Zwickau was also a complete success this year, as the city administration reported on June 17, 2025. With proud 147,022 km , Zwickau clearly exceeded the record of the previous year of 140,212 km . It is particularly gratifying that the number of participants increase to 687 , more than twice as many as in 2022. Overall, the participants cycled 86 teams .

The “Heimatverein Schlunzig” team showed a brilliant performance, which took first place with 19,801 km . In the second and third place, the previous year's "chives were yesterday" followed with 17,761 km and "Churches and Diakonie West Saxony" with 16,933 km . Zwickau announces that the participants have a week to add their back distances - so that the final result may even increase.

The end of the city bike took place on Monday evening in the form of a residents' meeting on wheels, in which the city not only celebrated success, but also strengthened awareness of climate protection and sustainable mobility. The city cycling aims to cover everyday paths by bike and to promote the use of the bicycle as an environmentally friendly means of transport. The international competitive concept has established itself as a successful method to motivate citizens to cycle.

According to the city, these measures also have a positive impact on the cycling infrastructure, which is essential for a permanent change from the car to bike. Political decision -makers are encouraged to take the perspective of the cyclists in order to recognize weaknesses and strengths of the existing infrastructure. The Germany -wide competition runs until the end of September 2025, so that the pedals can be treaded further.

The motivation remains high

Zwickau occupied, in the nationwide ranking under 2991 municipalities , currently the 288. Place and is the second best location under 17 Saxon city road municipalities .
