Zwickau starts new idea competition for holiday offers – apply now!
Today, on September 24, 2025, a new LEADER ideas competition will be launched in Zwickau, which is intended to appeal primarily to creative minds among non-profit associations. They have until December 3, 2025 to apply and win prize money of up to 2,500 euros for their holiday offers for children and young people in grades 1 to 10. The city of Zwickau reports this in a current press release ( zwickau.de ).
The competition aims to promote educational, exercise and creative activities during the school holidays. We are looking for programs that are between two and five days long and can, if necessary, take place in cooperation with other clubs or institutions. A total of up to 25,000 euros is available for the award, with an expert jury evaluating the submitted projects and awarding the best ideas in January. These should then be implemented from the winter holidays of 2026.
The competition in numbers
Prize funds can be used for a variety of expenses including:
- Honorare
- Notwendige Anschaffungen
- Eintrittsgelder
- Verpflegung
- Fahrten
- Weiterbildungen
Proof of the use of the funds is not required, which makes planning easier for clubs and offers additional scope for creative ideas.
Jury and evaluation criteria
The winners are selected by a jury made up of various representatives from the region, including the chairman of the LEADER Zwickauer Land region, Stefan Czarnecki, and members of the Old Gasometer and the Children and Youth Association Pleißental e.V. Value is placed on criteria such as sustainability, cooperation, creativity and educational added value. The aim of the competition is to support civic engagement and to find solutions to the clubs' challenges, as the information page of Zukunftsregion Zwickau e. V. holds ( futureregion-zwickau.eu ).
The focus is clearly on promoting holiday offers, as there is high demand here. This is not least because children and young people need creative and educational activities during the school holidays that contribute to their social and cultural development.
Information events and further information
In order to offer the clubs a sound basis for their applications, two information events will take place in the Old Gasometer, BarTerre: on October 22nd at 10 a.m. and on October 23rd at 6 p.m. Here, anyone interested can find out everything about the new funding period of the LEADER program and ask questions directly to those responsible. The Zukunftsregion Zwickau e.V. association is the sponsor of this LEADER region and takes care of the development of rural areas.
Overall, the LEADER initiative is not only designed to improve the quality of life in rural areas, but also to promote projects that support the cooperation and participation of local people ( europa-foerdert-kultur.eu ). Ideas related to cultural issues, education or even sporting activities are particularly welcome.
