Cologne jazz sensation Jin Jim celebrates with a new album in Altenburg!

On November 8th, jazz lovers will get their money's worth in Altenburg. The Cologne Jazz Quartet Jin Jim There will be a concert at 8 p.m. in the Altenburg Jazz Club, in the Paul-Gustavus-Haus. After their successful performance seven years ago, the band returns with their latest album “New Choices”. Jin Jim quickly made a name for himself in the German jazz scene and is not called a “whiz band” for nothing.

The album, which was released in 2023, combines a variety of musical influences - from Latin and jazz to rock and flamenco. The band, consisting of Daniel Manrique-Smith (flute), Ben Tai Trawinski (bass), Johann May (guitar) and Nico Stallmann (drums), presents a mixture of powerful rhythms and catchy melodies. Influential producer Wolfgang Stach, known for his work with the likes of Dominic Miller and Guano Apes, put his experience into producing the album, which lasts a total of 55 minutes.

A musical experience

The instrumentation with flute ensures a special sound that integrates both classical and Latin American elements. With pieces like the title song “New Choices” and a cover of Björk’s “Army of Me,” the audience is taken on a musical journey. The band has taken care to lighten the complexity of their songs in favor of catchier structures, which is due to the producer's pop approach.

Tickets for the concert are available at the box office or can be reserved by email. There is still time not to miss this musical delicacy!

Current local events

But it's not just music that's happening in the region. On the same day, November 4th, residents' meetings will take place in Schmölln: at 5 p.m. in Altkirchen and at 7 p.m. in Schloßig. An interesting workshop called “ClimateChanging” has already brought together 17 participants to discuss future-oriented visions for the year 2050.

Things are also turbulent at the moment on the streets of Altenburg and Schmölln. The inspections on the sewer on “Zur Fasanerie” street will run until November 5th and will involve some closures. Drivers should also pay attention to the closure of Humboldtstrasse on November 4th and 5th, where filming will take place. And for educators and those interested, there will be the theater-radio play workshop “Gerda’s Noise Case” in Gera on November 13th and 20th, for which registration is required by November 10th.

One thing is certain: there is a lot going on in Altenburg and the surrounding area. A concert full of pulsating sounds, exciting local events and preparation for the challenges of the future - there is something for everyone!
