District honors deserving school principals before the end of the school year!
Today, June 25, 2025, the farewell to two outstanding head teachers in Altenburger Land was a very special occasion. District Administrator Uwe Melzer took the time to say goodbye to Sylvia Most and Christine Meischl for their well-deserved retirement. This ceremony took place a few days before the end of the school year and recognized their longstanding and valuable contributions to education in the region. abg-info.de reports that both educators were not only excellent leaders, but also shaped many generations of students through their dedication and passion.
Sylvia Most, who worked as head of the INSOBEUM state school in Rositz for over 17 years, can look back on a total of 44 years in school service. She has worked in Rositz for over 33 years, and her commitment will continue to be felt in the coming school year, as she will support the staff with a few hours per week. Sylvia Most's successor will be Jens Göbel, who will take over responsibility for the school in August. As the website abg-net.de adds, District Administrator Melzer also highlighted the great influence that Ms. Most had on education in the district.
Another goodbye
Christine Meischl headed the Rainbow School, a support center with a special focus on intellectual development, for over 19 years. In her impressive career, she spent a total of 42 years in school service, 29 of which were at her last place of work. Kathleen Schellenberg will be appointed as the new head of the Rainbow School in August and will bring a breath of fresh air to the school.
The farewells of these two school principals not only mark the end of a chapter, but also invite new ideas into the educational landscape. District Administrator Melzer thanked both women for their extraordinary contributions to education in the region. It is clear that these transitions in school management offer opportunities for new approaches and concepts that can further advance the education system in the Altenburger Land.
