Pure Western feeling: 25 years of Western Days in Haselbach from August 15th to 17th!
The Western Days in Haselbach are just around the corner and promise to be a festival full of adventure and atmosphere. From August 15th to 17th, the event celebrates its 25th anniversary, attracting not only locals but also numerous visitors from the surrounding area and beyond. The area of the coal railway association, near the Saxon border, is transformed into a fascinating scenario of the Wild West. Already in the first event in 1999, which began with one train and three fully occupied rides, the idea of promoting the coal railway for tourism and creating an atmospheric experience that still inspires people today was born. LVZ reports that the event has since been continuously expanded to offer a varied program.
The opening takes place on Friday evening with live music. The Johnny Cash cover band “Cashback” starts at 6 p.m., followed by “Shotgun Jones,” who play country and rock 'n' roll tunes from 10 p.m. DJ Zwerg will provide a special highlight with a line dance workshop and the country duo “Fairschärft”, who will heat up the party mood from 8 p.m. Admission for this evening is 5 euros and promises an atmospheric start to the anniversary weekend.
Diverse program for young and old
The Western Days offer a comprehensive program that appeals to both young and old visitors. Settlers, northerners, southerners and indigenous peoples will be seen in authentic outfits, giving the spectacle an original touch. Craft demonstrations in which embossing or forging leather are demonstrated provide insights into old craft traditions. Lightning church weddings with a Wild West marriage certificate promise fun and unforgettable memories. Especially for children, there are pony rides and gold panning, which the little ones love. In addition, the official means of payment, the copper nuggets, will provide a particularly authentic flair.
Another highlight are the Wildhogs, who provide entertainment with their comedy and stunt shows. A western parade will parade through the grounds twice daily to delight the public. In addition, the coal railway association, which has been operating the coal railway since 1996, organizes interesting train rides that take viewers into an exciting story.

Cultural promotion and local engagement
The Western Days are not only a leisure activity, but also help to strengthen the local community. Thanks to the “Aller.Land – shaping together. Strengthening structures” program, which has existed since 2023, the focus is increasingly on culture and commitment in rural regions. Over 180 volunteers from the region work to ensure that this event remains a tradition and strengthens the sense of community. Minister of State for Culture emphasizes how important such events are for the identity and quality of life in rural areas.
With the idea of creating a western town and the exciting concept around train robberies and theater performances, the makers of the Western Days have created an event that is deeply rooted in the region. Visitors who have been coming for over 20 years know about the unique atmosphere, which is attractive to young and old alike. The Western Days in Haselbach are truly a highlight in the event calendar and invite you to let yourself be carried away into the adventure of the Wild West.
