Chaos in Thuringia: Tornado and violent storms demand forces!

On Thursday evening, Thuringia was hit by violent storms, which triggered numerous fire brigade operations, especially in the districts of Eichsfeld and Sömmerda. In a tornado that pulled over Dingelstädt, more severe damage was caused, while various accidents were to be reported on the A38 and A71 motorways. At least one person was seriously injured. According to a spokesman for the motorway police, the emergency services were strongly challenged because the storm situation required quick action. The German Weather Service (DWD) had previously warned of severe thunderstorms and made the population aware of the impending danger.

The forecasts for the coming Friday provide for very cloudy sky, with maximum around 24 degrees. In addition, you have to count on a shower -like rain and gusty wind, which should let go in the evening. Access roads were blocked at short notice. In Wutha-Farnroda, the fire brigade in Mosbach had to fight a tidal wave, which spilled through the streets and put houses and gardens under water.

The A4, A71 and A38 motorways reported several traffic accidents that were due to the rain wet roadway. A vehicle overturned on the A71, two people were slightly injured. In a further incident on the A4, a car rose, which resulted in an injured person. Overall, the damage totaled around 58,000 euros after several other traffic accidents have occurred in the past few days.
