Eichsfeld helps: DRK starts supporting member campaign!
From November 3rd, the DRK district association Eichsfeld will start a new initiative to recruit supporting members. This support campaign runs for five weeks and ensures that students go door to door in Red Cross clothing. The aim is to strengthen the financial basis for the DRK's voluntary work, because the support contributions are essential, especially when it comes to disaster control, medical care at events and lifeguard services. Chairman of the Board Guido Solf emphasizes the indispensable role of volunteer emergency services in major cases of damage and natural disasters. What is particularly noteworthy is that no apartments are entered or cash is collected during the campaign. This ensures transparency and security.
But the German Red Cross (DRK) not only offers an important service in the region, but also exciting career opportunities. A variety of activities in the rescue service, nursing as well as social and educational services are available to those interested. Anyone who decides to volunteer benefits from fair working conditions, transparent collective agreements and extensive training opportunities. The DRK is a registered association and is financed primarily through donations; it is not part of the public service.
Variety of offers for citizens
In parallel to the DRK campaign, there are numerous events that strengthen the community in the region. The Caritas regional office in Eichsfeld/North Thuringia is offering a free initial legal consultation at the Caritas house in Heiligenstadt on Tuesday, November 4th. Anyone interested should register in advance at 03606/50970 to secure a place.
The Weg der Mitte health and training center in Gerode Monastery offers another exciting opportunity. The seminar series “Getting Older: Affirmation of Life and Contentment into Old Age” will take place from October 30th to November 2nd. The focus here is on a positive approach to getting older. If you cannot attend, you should mark the other dates in your calendar: February 26th to March 1st, 2026, June 11th to 14th and September 24th to 27th.
Volunteering and community
On Sunday, November 9th, the deaf community invites you to a church service in the Marcel Callo House in Heiligenstadt. After the service, which begins at 11:30 a.m., there will be lunch together followed by discussions as well as coffee and cake. Registration is required with Heidi Bach by November 4th.
There will also be a discussion evening on November 3rd from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Dingelstädter Kerbscher Berg Family Center. Under the title “Is it safe to die?” Important topics such as end-of-life wishes and the differences between curative and palliative care are discussed. Registration is required for a fee of four euros.
Finally, the Thuringia Consumer Center offers personal energy advice in Leinefelde every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Here you can get expert advice on topics such as heating replacement and thermal insulation - and it's completely free!
In addition, after a successful membership and election meeting, the Heiligenstadt Carnival Association (HCV) elected a new board, chaired by Swen Stände. A fresh wind blows through the carnival landscape!
The variety of offers shows how lively and committed our region is. The DRK district association and numerous other organizations are working tirelessly to support the community and to find new ways of support.
