New trainer for talent: Henri Fuchs leads Rot-Weiß Erfurt to promotion!

On July 1, 2025, Rot-Weiß Erfurt will have a significant new beginning. The football club is not only planning to move up from the regional league to the third league, but is also focusing on strengthening its youth development center (NLZ) in order to optimally train talent and prepare it for the future. Henri Fuchs, an experienced football professional and coach, takes on a key role in the NLZ as a coach developer: The 55-year-old is the holder of the UEFA Pro license, the highest coaching license in European football. This license is crucial for the status of the NLZ, because in order to maintain it, a sporting employee with this license must be employed full-time, explains Thüringen24.

Fuchs not only brings with him his extensive experience, which he gained both as a player, with around 60 competitive games for Rot-Weiß Erfurt, and as a coach in various positions. Most recently, he headed the youth department at Energie Cottbus and is not afraid to contribute his knowledge to the football training of youth at the traditional Erfurt club.

New management team and goals

The NLZ is being reorganized under the new sporting leadership of Fuchs. Oliver Ruhe takes over the organizational management of the NLZ, while Karsten Voigt takes responsibility for the U11 to U15 teams. Together with the first team coach, Thomas Brdaric, they are working on optimizing the basic structures in the youth sector. The management team also plans to push forward the recertification of the 2-star NLZ, which is of enormous importance for young talent, as is also emphasized on the Rot-Weiß Erfurt website.

The aim of this restructuring is clear: the football training of youth should be significantly improved and the most talented U19 players should be able to enter the professional sector. This is a step that is very important for the development of young talent and it shows that the club is really gaining momentum here. “I’m looking forward to the tasks ahead and to the new beginning at the NLZ,” says Fuchs optimistically.

Licensing and Requirements

An important aspect that Henri Fuchs brings with him as a current commitment is the UEFA Pro License. This high-level qualification is required for coaches in the highest national leagues and in international professional football. The license is the result of a complex training process that requires not only in-depth specialist knowledge, but also team leadership and media work skills. The need for such a license reflects the growing professionalism in football.

The importance of coaching licenses in Europe underlines the strict requirements that are placed on current and future coaches: from entry with the UEFA C license to the highest level, the UEFA Pro license, there are numerous hurdles to overcome that define the path to the management levels of football. This shows how important it is to train well-founded trainers in order to sustainably secure qualifications in the youth sector, according to zone14.ai.

Rot-Weiß Erfurt's U17 and U19 teams will continue to play in the DFB youth league, which is also seen as a significant step. An exciting future awaits the club here, and fans can look forward to seeing what talents are being forged in the Erfurt youth academy.
