Festive summer: Thuringia's Fête de la Musique impresses everywhere!

Thuringia's music makers are preparing for a happy event that traditionally heralds the start of summer. The event takes place on June 21st Music Festival takes place, which offers free street music festivals in over 14 cities. This year new cities such as Sonneberg and Eisenach are taking part. The music styles are diverse and range from alphorn players and choirs to rock bands and electronic DJs. There is something for every taste!

Things get particularly exciting in Apolda, where over 30 musicians and bands perform at 13 different locations. The opening will take place at 4 p.m. in the Luther Church and the celebrations will last until 10 p.m. Things will also be lively in Erfurt with 38 stages in the city center. There will be celebrations here from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., and even the police will take part with their own “Fête de la Police”.

Cultural highlights in Thuringia

But the weekend has even more to offer. Music lovers in Altenburg can attend on June 20th and 21st Classic Open Air Listen in the market square, where works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy are performed by the Altenburg-Gera Philharmonic Orchestra. Enjoy the title “A Midsummer Night's Dream” in a magical atmosphere, in which a theatrical pantomime interlude is integrated.

It's not far awayApolda Park and Local History Festivalfrom June 20th to 28th, which opens its doors on June 21st with the Fête de la Musique. Star guests such as Stereoact and Queen classic ensure a good atmosphere, and rides and a brilliant fireworks display crown the festival.

TheHome and fountain festivalin Bad Langensalza is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. In addition to a festive barrel tapping by the mayor on June 21st, the program includes children's parades and various musical performances.
