Gotha celebrates Halloween: Huge pirate ship enchants the neighborhood!

On October 31, 2025, as the night of ghosts and ghosts approaches, something big was created in Gotha, Thuringia: an impressive pirate ship that delights Halloween fans. Inspired by the legendary “Black Pearl” from “Pirates of the Caribbean”, the duo Marco Schneider and Stefanie Gladrow created an impressive attraction in the front garden.

The ship measures an impressive 23 meters in length and 14 meters in height. It's a real eye-catcher and can even be found on Google Maps. The construction, which took approximately ten weeks, was a considerable challenge, but well-thought-out teamwork made it possible. Marco, the civil engineer, and his brother, a scaffolder, used building materials from a scaffolding and were supported by a wood artist friend who took care of the design of portholes and anchors.

A ghost ship for the neighborhood

The ghost ship spans two front yards, and luckily the neighbor doesn't have a problem with the size of the project. On the contrary: the neighbors support the two developers with donations of drinks. So that the anticipation of Halloween can be felt, the ship remains stationary until a week after the festival. Last year, similar horror displays attracted around 1,000 visitors, and organizers expect an even higher number this year.

The ghost ship opens this evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Finsterberger Straße 5. Admission is free and every child receives a pirate gold piece as a souvenir of this eerie evening. Skeleton decorations and other spooky elements inside the ship create an unforgettable atmosphere. Interested visitors can also explore the ship on two decks and follow an exciting horror trail.

Horror doesn't need permission

What is pleasing for the builders is that they did not need any special official permits since the ghost ship is on private property. The mayor has already visited the fascinating work of art and is enthusiastic about the creativity of the two initiators.

Some Halloween fans who also want to spice up their festivities are looking for free Halloween video clips on platforms like YouTube. They look for visual highlights like floating candles or spooky skeletons to complement their Halloween decorations. Suggestions for search terms like “Singing Pumpkins” or “Floating Ghost” help find exciting clips that can add to the atmosphere. If you are looking for special video effects, you can find tips in forums on how you can edit your own videos with software like Pinnacle Studio to support the spooky atmosphere in a cool way.

In Gotha it will become clear how much the residents of the district will accept the ghost ship. Expectations are high for tonight, because Halloween is not only a festival of colors and costumes, but also an occasion to experience community and be creative.
