Lantern tours through Gotha: discover history in the soft glow!

The colorful lights of the city of Gotha will soon illuminate the evening hours again, as the season of the popular evening tours by lantern light starts on Friday, September 12th. This special way of exploring, which presents the city in a new light, attracts many interested parties and promises a charming tour of around an hour and a half. The tour guide will tell exciting stories about the past of the residential city, giving participants a unique insight into Gotha's history. The meeting point is the Schellenbrunnen fountain at the Lower Main Market, where the tour will begin.

The participation fee is quite cheap at 11 euros for adults and 4 euros for children up to 16 years of age, while children up to 5 years of age can come along free of charge. Tickets are available in advance at “Gotha adelt – Tourist Information and Shop” at Hauptmarkt 40. This is open from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To make a reservation, you can also contact us by phone on 03621 510 450 or by email at tourist-info@gotha-adelt.de. If you would like to make a decision at short notice, you can also purchase remaining tickets directly from the tour guide.

Gotha impresses with its picturesque city center with many architectural gems from the Baroque and Renaissance. On the tour you can admire, among other things, the water art, the orangery, the Cranach House, the Margarethenkirche and the Augustinian monastery. The latter was even a place where the famous reformer Luther preached. These sights not only offer a visually appealing setting, but also exciting historical background. The city has many stories to tell - from the cradle of the insurance industry to the founding of the later SPD.
