Fire brigade saves swan family: drama in Schleusingen!
A particularly remarkable operation by the fire brigade has recently caused a stir in Schleusingen. The volunteer fire department had to save a family of swans that was in an emergency situation. Loud inSouth Thuringia The family and five small swans were pelted with stones in a pond about two kilometers from the city center. This was probably done by children who chased the animals away and made it impossible for them to return safely.
The story of the swans begins at the pond in St. Kilian, where they panicked when stones were thrown at them and moved on towards the Schleusingen glassworks. The swans' subsequent behavior was characterized by fear, which did not make the fire department's rescue operation any easier. Since they were behaving aggressively, the emergency services, in collaboration with the nature conservation authority, had to close the road and carefully drive the swans towards “Langer Pond”, which is about 500 meters away.
A challenging mission
At 11 a.m., the fire department was finally able to report the successful completion of the operation: the swan family reached their new body of water safely.
