Children's yoga and city history: An unforgettable autumn day in Hildburghausen!

On October 16, 2025, the children in Hildburghausen were able to end their autumn holidays with a special event under the motto “Relax with the myths”. The exciting day started in Katrin Ritzmann's yoga studio, better known as “K-Yoga”, which offered several highlights.

The participants, both girls and boys, had the opportunity to express their ideas about yoga. The unit was anything but monotonous. Rather, it included a varied program - a game called “Fire, Water, Storm” was followed by stretching and strengthening exercises that were intended to strengthen the body and mind. The origins of yoga, whose goal is to gain control of the body and mind and thereby achieve soteriological goals, can be traced back to ancient India. These practices were used not only in Hinduism but also in other faiths such as Jainism and Buddhism, as Wikipedia explains.

Stories from Hildburghausen

After the active yoga session, the children made their way to the market square, where the night watchman from Hildburghausen was waiting for them. This was followed by an exciting tour during which the children could not only explore historical sites such as the town hall, but also learn lively stories about the city. They showed great interest in the stories, asked many questions and listened enthusiastically to the night watchman's anecdotes.

Such experiences not only promote interest in history, they also contribute to children's cultural education. As it turned out, the combination of playful yoga elements and informative city stories made for a varied and educational day. At the crowning conclusion of the event there was a small refreshment. Here all participants were able to come together again with snacks and drinks before the parents picked up their children.

Thanks and outlook

A heartfelt thank you was expressed both to Ms. Ritzmann for organizing the yoga part and to Mr. Stäblein, who conveyed the stories in a lively manner. The time spent together not only brought joy to the children, but also actively involved them in the traditions of their city.

The meaning of yoga has evolved since its beginnings, and this ancient practice is also becoming increasingly popular in Hildburghausen. Events like this not only get the body moving, but also strengthen cultural roots. In an increasingly hectic world, it is important to create spaces for children that are both active, informative and enjoyable.

Yoga, which has now become popular as a form of fitness in the West, has already proven in the past that it has many health benefits. Studies show that regular yoga practice not only helps with back pain, but also with stress.
