New shine for Hildburghausen: car dealership with a fresh investor!
The car dealership locations in Hildburghausen and the surrounding regions have recently had a few turbulent weeks. But now things are moving. The Hildburghausen paint and body center has taken over the location of the former Staffel car dealership as a new investor. This step was already taken on July 1, 2025, as insuedthueringen.de reports.
The takeover is a bright spot in an otherwise difficult time for the Autohaus Staffel Group, which has faced challenges since the provisional insolvency administration in October 2024. At that time, the Meiningen district court found that the group had fallen into a serious crisis due to falling sales and liquidity problems. As a result, the salaries of the 165 employees remained secured through insolvency money until the end of the year, while operations continued to be maintained at all seven locations, as fr.de highlights.
A new beginning in Hildburghausen
Gunda Liesegang, the company spokeswoman for the paint and bodywork center, has already announced that the location will be comprehensively modernized and equipped with a fresh concept. Mike Müller, the owner of the paint and bodywork center, emphasizes that he is aware of the responsibility to maintain jobs and know-how in the region. Five former employees of the Schleusinger Staffel location have already found new jobs in Müller's car dealership, while two other employees have been offered jobs.
Another sign of the realignment at the location is the planned construction of a modern paint shop on Wiedersbacher Straße. The comprehensive renovation and conversion of the former relay building is also on the agenda. The new paint booth will further increase the attractiveness of the offering.
The future of the car dealership
The paint and body center attaches great importance to serving both private and business customers and being open to car dealerships and independent workshops. In view of the latest developments, many are hoping for a positive turnaround for the entire Autohaus Staffel group. The provisional insolvency administrators are already in discussions with suppliers and car manufacturers to evaluate various restructuring options.
For the 165 employees and the region, it is very important that solutions are found to preserve the car dealerships and thus numerous jobs. Managing director Manfred Staffel expressed concern about the lack of prospects, but stated the goal of saving the group of companies and continuing the tradition founded in 1990.
In the midst of all these challenges, the takeover by the paint and body center brings a breath of fresh air and hope. It remains to be seen how developments will unfold, but a dedicated team is working on the future of the location.
