Big festival in the toy museum: Ride for free with the Piko train!

from June 26, 2025, the German Toy Museum in Sonneberg becomes a real goal for families and model railroad lovers. On this special day, a cooperation between the museum and the renowned model railway manufacturer Piko from Oberlind begins, which offers visitors exciting, free trips on the new model railway system. If you buy a family card, you will receive a chip for unlimited fun on the rails. This is a great incentive to spend an entertaining day together with the family. The family card only costs six euros, and for children, admission is even free of charge, such as Inüdthüringen reported.

The big event is also accompanied by the exciting play mile festival of the Sonneberg Museum and History Association. Here a colorful program is waiting for the small and large visitors: games, magic tricks, handicrafts and even theater posts provide a lot of entertainment. A special highlight is the lively footballer, which takes place at 2:30 p.m. on the meadow behind the new museum. Families can not only play along, but also take the chance to win great prizes - three family cards for the first three places in the tournament! Another highlight is the appearance of the magician Roland Spielmann at 3:30 p.m. at the staircase, which will enchant the audience with his tricks.

workshops and inspiration for large and small hobbyists

not enough! The museum also has two creative workshops on offer. On July 1st and 15th, the participants can design their own fabric puppets from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. For only 4 euros plus admission, there is the possibility to live out your manual skills and creative ideas. Another workshop with the motto "On land, to water and in the air" will take place on July 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on September 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at a cost contribution of 3 euros plus. These workshops not only promise fun, they also promote enthusiasm for creative work.

The entire event is supported by the federal program "Sustainable inner Cities and Centers" with the aim of creating innovative leisure activities that contribute to sustainable urban development. This is not only shown in the commitment of the museum, but also in the increasing importance of educational and entertainment events for the entire region, as well as other providers in the field of model railways, such as play works in Berlin-Steglitz, a specialty shop for model tracks that offer diverse support and advice.

June 26th is summarized an unforgettable day for visitors of all ages. The German toy museum and Piko bring games, fun and creative ideas on the right track - the whole family is cordially invited!
