Children's festival in the Ilm district: sport, fun and health for the youngest!

On September 22, 2025, the Ilm-Kreis-Kliniken once again invited people to their popular children's festival, which this year had a sporting motto and was all about exercise and play. Despite the rainy weather, the atmosphere was great and numerous children, parents and healthcare professionals came together to experience a great day. Dr. Detlef Stein, head of pediatric and adolescent medicine, took the opportunity to point out the importance of young talent in the healthcare system. “We have to counteract the challenges of demographic change,” says Stein, “and this requires fresh people who are enthusiastic about the job.”

The children's festival not only served as entertainment, but also as advertising for the Ilm District Clinics. Kornelius Grund introduced the little ones to the fascinating sport of parkour and ensured many smiling faces among the young participants. The event was enthusiastically received by young and old alike and not only promoted community spirit, but also curiosity about new activities.

Accessibility and inclusion in focus

The Ilm-Kreis-Kliniken not only focus on sporting activity; The issue of accessibility also played a central role. As explained on the clinics' website, work is being done to ensure barrier-free access for all users, regardless of their abilities. This includes technologies specifically designed for people with disabilities to make it easier to use the website. Compliance with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at AA level is an important goal of the institution.

For example, the clinics offer an accessible interface that allows users to customize the interface according to their needs. There are screen reader and keyboard navigation functions that help make all information easily accessible. “We want everyone to be able to find the information they need – no matter what challenges they face in everyday life,” emphasizes the responsible body at the Ilm District Clinics.

Health promotion and web analysis

Another aspect of the Ilm-Kreis-Kliniken initiative concerns the continuous improvement of the offering through web analysis. The Matomo service is used to record key figures in order to optimize the user-friendliness of the website. Particular attention is paid to data protection: IP addresses are anonymized and no cookies are stored on the end devices. This data is collected taking into account the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

These measures not only ensure inclusive and barrier-free information, but also create an active feedback system for users in order to continually implement suggestions for improvement. With such efforts, the Ilm-Kreis-Kliniken position themselves not only as healthcare providers, but also as pioneers in health promotion and inclusion.

Whether at the children's festival or in the digital offerings, the Ilm-Kreis-Kliniken pull out all the stops to best meet the needs of their small and large patients.
