Free return: This is how farmers dispose of plant protection packaging!
The proper disposal of plant protection packaging is an important issue that affects not only farmers, but also horticultural businesses and private households in the Pfaffenhofen district. Attentive farmers should note the upcoming dates, because on August 25th and 26th and October 9th and 10th they have the opportunity to hand in their empty crop protection and liquid fertilizer packaging free of charge. According to [landkreis-pfaffenhofen.de](https://www.landkreis-pfaffenhofen.de/alle-melden/kostenlose-ruecknahme-von-pflanzenschutz Verpackungen-12082025/), there are two collection points available for this: BayWa AG Agrar in Wolnzach opens on the first date from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., while Agrarhandel Moser in Schweitenkirchen opens on the second date from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
But what is actually necessary to hand in the packaging correctly? The requirements are clear: only well-washed packaging, sorted according to plastic, tinplate, aluminum or flexible material, is accepted. It is also important that bottles and canisters are brought to the collection point without lids and dry. Packaging must bear an original German label, regardless of where it was purchased. Packaging that does not meet the requirements will be rejected.
Caution is advised
There is even more to consider when disposing of pesticides. Numerous regulations must be adhered to during transport and storage. As bvl.bund.de explains, users must ensure that the containers are undamaged and contact the fire department if they leak. Storage requires special care: products should always be kept in their original packaging to avoid contamination.
But it's not just the correct storage and transport that is important, the disposal itself must also be carried out conscientiously. According to legal requirements, plant protection products that can no longer be used or contain banned active ingredients must be disposed of properly. Failure to comply with this disposal obligation is considered a violation and can result in various legal consequences, as agrarheute.com explains. There is even a threat of cuts in direct payments as part of the funding.
An appeal to all users
The waste management company (AWP) urgently appeals to use the collection points to promote the environmentally friendly disposal of plant protection packaging. Not only does this help the environment, but it also helps sustain future collections. Please note that packaging that has not been rinsed or that has residual contents will not be accepted. Containers with residual contents can be handed in for problematic waste collections.
In addition, on October 9th and 10th, Agrarhandel Moser is offering the opportunity to sell clean agricultural films (PE films) for a fee. If you have any questions, please contact the AWP directly on +49 8441 7879-50.
