N3 starts construction of a state -of -the -art logistics center in Thuringia
Ilm-Kreis, Deutschland - In Arnstadt, the course for the logistics of the future will be set. On July 17, 2025, the N3 Engine Overhaul Services celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for a new logistics center. Just two months after the topping-out ceremony for the expansion of the workshop, it can be seen that N3, a joint venture from Lufthansa and Rolls-Royce, is pursuing ambitious plans. Millions are invested in this future-oriented building, which was recognized by Kay Tischer, deputy of the ILM district, with the words that they regularly celebrate milestones at N3. Representatives from politics and business were invited to this significant event that opened promising perspectives for the region.
The planned logistics center is equipped with a fully automatic high -bay warehouse, the impressive dimensions of 26 meters and around 123 meters in length are underlined by the efficiency of the operations. The focus is on automation of input and outsourcing processes, supported by central control, which enables real-time analysis of the warehouse data. The planned equipment includes warehouse lifts and height -adjustable shelves that are intended to optimize the company again. In particular, the new office and social spaces that offer space for more than 30 employees and changing rooms for approx. 560 employees are another step to create a modern work environment.
Future -oriented commissioning
The completion of the logistics center is planned for 2027, and the construction work for a new cleaning system and a canteen run in parallel. This cleaning system for engine parts should go into operation at the end of this year and represents another important component in N3S Innovation strategy. The developments in Arnstadt fit well with the general trend of the logistics industry, where automation and digitization are becoming increasingly important.
mastering logistical challenges
The study also illustrates that there are large differences between expectations and reality, especially in internal transport. The degree of automation here is only 13% of companies that have reached high to very high automation. In pick -up technology, there is a similar discrepancy, which indicates that there is still a lot of potential in the industry. It is all the more important that companies like N3 in Arnstadt set new standards with targeted investments and innovative concepts.
Overall, the development at N3 shows how important the settlement of such international companies is for the region. These strategic decisions not only revive the local economy, but also set the course for the future of logistics in Thuringia. The course of the coming years will show how well these plans can be implemented and what other innovative impulses are from it.
