Special exhibition in Meiningen: Discover railway magic on stamps!
There is an exciting reason to celebrate in Meiningen: The Steam locomotive adventure world has opened a new special exhibition that takes visitors into the fascinating world of railways and philately. Under the title "Fire - Water - Coal. The three primary elements are tamed", the exhibition shows a wide collection of stamps that deal with the historical development of the railway. Johanna Weißler, the head of the adventure world, recognized the connection between these two topics and has thus created a creative platform that appeals to both collectors and railway fans.
The exhibition covers 300 square meters and is a wonderful addition to the existing permanent exhibition, which covers 600 square meters. This clearly presents how the steam locomotive works and offers interactive hands-on stations for young and old. In its first year, the permanent exhibition welcomed 34,000 visitors – a great response!
Insights into railway history
Visitors can admire over 50 exhibition frames in the special exhibition, which show a variety of collections of steam locomotives, diesel engines and tickets. Personal stories from collectors are also not neglected, including the heartwarming attempt of a grandfather to get his grandson interested in philately. The exhibition will be open until the end of the year, possibly longer, allowing everyone to take a look at these special treasures.
The steam locomotive adventure world is not only a place for exhibitions, but also offers tours of the nearby steam locomotive factory, which is considered to be the last large steam locomotive factory in Western Europe.
