Bewage waste and green section: District day decides on new fees in the ILM district!

The district council in the ILM district recently voted for a new concept of waste management, which brings exciting changes for the citizens. According to [Insuedthüringen] (https://www.insuedthueringen.de/inhalt.spermuell-und-gruenscht-kreiert- fuer- special- give bulky waste. This means that garden owners and households now have to dig deeper into their pockets if they want to dispose of waste. It is particularly noteworthy that amendments that wanted to prevent these additional costs have failed despite the support of the CDU.

The implementation of the new plans is the responsibility of the ILM-Kreis (AIK) waste management company. However, an important point was rejected: the construction of another recycling center. For many citizens, this could mean that they have to travel further to hand over their recycling materials. The waste management thus remains a central topic for the region.

composting in the focus

In terms of waste avoidance, the topic of composting is of great importance. Many garden owners shy away from composting sick plants themselves for fear of spreading illness. Contrary to this assumption, experts from the crop protection service recommend that this is not absolutely necessary. According to information from [Nordwestmecklenburg] (https://www.nordwestmecklenburg.de/de/ Abfallswirtschaftsbetrieb), temperatures can be achieved with sufficient large compost heaps that kill pathogens. A good tip: The edge areas of the compost pattern should be re -layered regularly so that they get into the warm interior, where the optimal conditions for healthy decomposition prevail.

Your own composting has many advantages. It not only contributes to waste avoidance, but also improves the soil quality. The Federal Environment Agency emphasizes that composting is one of the oldest methods of waste recycling and contributes to avoiding truck transportation, which in turn lowers the emissions.

maintain the garden sustainably

If you have your own garden, you should make sure that there are at least 50 to 70 square meters of garden area for each person in the household to avoid over -fertilization. It is also important to choose a suitable compostplace that is (half) shady and easily accessible in order to avoid neighborhood disputes. Regular shredding of coarse cutting material accelerates the rotting process. Finally, compost can be used as a valuable fertilizer for flowers and vegetables, which continues to protect the environment.

The new fees and the focus on alternative disposal methods such as composting underline the importance of more sustainable handling of waste and resources. It remains to be seen how the citizens react to the new regulations and whether more people will discover the advantages of composting for themselves
