Storm alarm in Bavaria: strong thunderstorms and hail threaten!

In Bavaria, be careful today, on July 14, 2025! The German Weather Service (DWD) has published an extensive weather warning. Strong thunderstorms and sometimes violent showers move from west to east across the federal state. Therefore, people are asked to exercise caution. If you are outdoors, you should be aware of not only heavy rain, but also storm at speeds of up to 80 km/h.

The current weather situation is influenced by a low pressure area west of the British Islands, which brings moist warm air to Bavaria, as the DWD mentioned in an updated report. The rainy amounts can be up to 20 liters per square meter in a short time, with heavy rain of up to 40 liters per square meter and hail of up to 2 cm in size possible in the second half of the day. Severe weather warnings apply until at least 4 p.m.

The districts of Dingolfing-Landau, Freising, Kelheim and Landshut, all of which fall under the severe weather warning of level 2 (strong thunderstorm) are particularly affected. It looks even more serious for the district of Kitzingen and the Würzburg area, where level 3 (violent thunderstorms and heavy rain) was proclaimed. Here the thunderstorms with intensive rainfall and possibly also hailstorm are to be expected.
