Jena fights for a 2-0 home win against Eilenburg – promotion in sight!

The home game between FC Carl Zeiss Jena and FC Eilenburg on September 13, 2025, which ended 2-0, was another performance that thrilled the fans in the middle of the stadium. Jena secured its third home win in the third game and remains in fourth place in the Northeast Regional League. This means that the gap to the league leaders from Halle has been reduced to three points. In addition, 6,121 spectators streamed into the stadium to cheer on the team, a real celebration for all supporters.

At the start of the game, Jena dominated the action and had more possession of the ball, but there were initially no compelling chances. Alexander Prokopenko had the first shot on goal in the seventh minute. Eilenburg, on the other hand, was dangerous in its counterattacks and had a good opportunity with a shot from Kosak in the 30th minute. The Jena defense was challenged again in the 37th minute when Kurt Pestel fired a shot from eight meters towards the goal. However, keeper Marius Liesegang prevented the guests from taking the lead.

The goals for Jena

In the 41st minute it was finally the hosts who could celebrate. After a corner from Kevin Lankford, Malik Talabidi headed in from close range at the far post and put Jena in the lead. Even after the goal, Eilenburg remained an unpleasant opponent. After the break, the guests started offensively, but Liesegang brilliantly parried a header from Mattmüller in the 48th minute.

The game developed further and Eilenburg appeared eager to attack. A header from Fritz got stuck in the defense and Jena's defense was able to fend off many attacks afterwards. Eilenburg missed the equalizer in the 68th minute when Eshele hit the crossbar. For Jena it was the 76th minute when the decision was made: Burmeister took advantage of an assist from Eshele and increased the score to 2-0.

A look at the statistics

The statistics of the game show that Jena had a lot of possession of the ball, but did not always have the necessary offensive power. Nevertheless, they can rely on the achievements of Liesegang, Talabidi and Burmeister. According to the current data from kicker, this is an important sign for the upcoming games.

Jena's next meeting will be against ZFC Meuselwitz on Sunday, September 21st at 2:00 p.m. and fans can look forward to seeing whether the team can continue their winning streak. With a good hand, the team could perhaps collect more points and get closer to the leaders from Halle.
