Hermann-Pistor-Straße, 07745 Jena, Deutschland - The 49-year-old Stefan Winter from Jena has been missing since last Sunday, June 15, 2025. The situation around missing in Jena is not new. On Wednesday, police divers were already looking for a 63-year-old man in the Saale who could possibly have fallen into the Saale. This diving group of the Thuringia riot police was involved in the search measures after gift dogs gave appropriate information. The man climbed into a train towards Gera on December 5 in Weimar and is said to have ultimately left him in Jena Göschwitz. So far, there is no evidence of a crime here. These developments illustrate how important the cooperation between different emergency services is in the search for missing persons reports [tag24.de] (https://www.tag24.de/justiz/vermisste-s-

a complex problem in Germany

The range of support for missing persons in Germany is versatile, as the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) explains on its website. One person is considered missing if they are inexplicably absent from their whereabouts and a danger to their life or health is accepted. This applies not only to adults, but also to minors who are taken into state care when they leave their living area. In 2024, for example, around 18,100 children were reported missing, of which 96.7 % could be informed by the end of the year. The reconnaissance rate for missing young people was remarkable 97.4 %.

The number of cases is alarming. In January 2025, over 9,420 missing cases were recorded in Germany, with around 200 to 300 new searches to be added every day. It should be noted that more than two thirds of our missing people are male. These statistics contribute to the awareness of how important it is to act immediately in such matters and, if necessary, to help quickly, as can be read on the website of the [BKA] (https://www.bka.de/de/unsereuflungen/ermittlungs- Unterstuetung/ processing-

The search for missing people remains a constant challenge, and every hint can be significant. The police encourage citizens to be attentive and report suspicious observations. Every little hint could be the key to solving one if necessary.
