Big investments: Mödlareuth's German-German Museum is growing!

In the picturesque Mödlareuth, a lot is happening: As part of the expansion of the German-German museum, the infrastructure is being invested vigorously. The new drainage systems that are necessary are particularly important to efficiently derive the surface water of the outdoor facilities. At the recent meeting of the municipal council, it was decided that the municipality of Töpen will contribute to the financing of these systems with 75,000 euros. This underlines the importance that the community supports this project, like frankenpost

But that's just the beginning: a media appointment marked the starting signal for the second construction phase of the museum, a project that is increasingly gaining national importance. Dr. Oliver Bär, the association chairman and district administrator, emphasized the importance of the museum for the cultural landscape. The first construction phase, which included the redesign of the outside area, went on schedule - only a few remaining work is necessary until completion. These are completed by the beginning of the museum season next year, reports the municipality of Mödlareuth in an official message here .

planned extensions for the museum

The construction work for the second section has already started. Earthwork is currently being carried out and the construction site is set up. The laying of the basic lines and the floor slab are the next steps before the construction of the new building can be started in 2023. The completion is planned in 2025. With the new building, an additional 500 square meters of permanent exhibition space are created - space for solutions that meet the increase in annual number of visitors. Currently, up to 70,000 people visit the museum annually, although originally only 20,000 visitors were expected.

The new premises should not only be used for the permanent exhibitions, but also improve visitor care and offer space for alternating exhibitions and archive material. The interest in culture and history is high, and the preparations for future museum work are in full swing.

funding for cultural projects

In the overarching context of cultural support, there are not only some interesting developments in Mödlareuth. The federal cultural foundation has focused on innovations with the program "the day after tomorrow - new models for cultural institutions". In 2024 to 2027, 4.6 million euros would be available to support up to 50 cultural institutions in major German cities. Here, 50,000 euros can be requested for future -oriented projects. Further details on these programs can be found in the official portal of the cultural foundation here .

With the upcoming construction projects and the numerous funding opportunities, it can be seen that Mödlareuth and his German-German Museum are on the best way to further expand their role in the German cultural scene and thus make a significant contribution to the country's artistic landscape.
