A frightening incident occurred today in Bad Lobenstein, in the Saale-Orla district. A total of ten residents were injured in a fire in an apartment building. The injured, aged between 16 and 43, suffered minor injuries from smoke gas and had to be taken to nearby hospitals. The fire broke out in a ground floor apartment on Saturday afternoon and caused estimated property damage of around 160,000 euros. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown and the criminal police have started an investigation to shed light on it. This is reported by the Borkener Zeitung.
Two fires also occurred in Nordhausen on Sunday night, also in an apartment building. Fortunately, there were no injuries and no evacuation of residents was necessary. Nevertheless, the police are investigating suspected serious arson, which is causing concern among the population. The material damage is estimated at tens of thousands of euros. Here, too, it cannot be ruled out that there could be a political motive behind the incidents.
