A very special anniversary is coming up in Schmiedefeld: The New Apostolic Church is celebrating 100 years of its church buildings this year. The community and many guests will duly honor this milestone in a ceremony on September 13th. The New Apostolic history began here 125 years ago, initially in Vesser, where the first meetings took place in a living room. Construction of the church in Schmiedefeld officially began on April 1, 1925, and the building was consecrated on September 13 of the same year. The church building includes a hall with 160 seats and two apartments that are used for various purposes. There have been numerous renovation and modernization measures over the past 100 years, starting with a thorough renovation of the church hall in the 1980s and ending with extensive renovation work that began in autumn 2020. A new chapter for the community
The new building created a modern community center that offers barrier-free access and has 90 seats in the church hall. Additional rooms for children's lessons and various community activities complete the offer. The community's membership has now increased to around 350 people, spread across Schmiedefeld, Vesser, Frauenwald, Suhl and neighboring areas. Five active pastors look after the spiritual needs of the community, which regularly organizes church services and a variety of events for all age groups.
The anniversary, which is marked three times for the community, includes not only the ceremony on September 13th, but also a celebratory service on September 14th at 10 a.m. This Sunday everyone who is interested is cordially invited to attend. An open day is also planned with a choir concert starting at 2:30 p.m. so that all visitors have the opportunity to get to know the new premises and experience the community.
