Anniversary and new beginning: Cabrini in Meiningen under new sponsorship!
Meiningen, Deutschland - The Cabrini meeting place in Meiningen is facing an exciting fresh start. On July 1, 2025, the New work Thuringia e.V. (Nat) take over the sponsorship and thus take responsibility for the facility. This event also marks the tenth anniversary of the Cabrini and is recognized with a ceremonial handover of the keys, in which around 60 guests from social institutions and those responsible for the city and the district took part.
The city of Meiningen has decided to rent the meeting place to the new work of Thuringia for for the time, since the district of Schmalkalden-Meiningen withdraws as a tenant. This initiates a new section in the history of the facility, which has been managed by a new carrier who has been managed since May 1, 2016. Before that, Caritas was responsible for refugee social work, but was no longer able to perform this task for personnel reasons. Only the new operator reported to the tender of the district office, which paved the way for a fresh orientation of the work in the Cabrini.
a new offer for the citizens
The new office hours have already been set: refugees can now visit the facility on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., while the open encounter takes place from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Even if the exact details of other offers are announced at a later date, the change already shows that the NAT wants to set new impulses with fresh wind. Interested citizens and clubs are invited to contact Jens Thürbeck from NAT to actively participate in the event.
Caritas will continue to offer refugee social work in Meiningen, which ensures that support in the region is maintained. This shows how important it is that local actors pull together together to meet the needs of the refugees.
A look outside the box of integration work
A more comprehensive image of integration work also provides projects such as Inteso that deals with socially spatial approaches to integration and diversity. As social space.de reports such projects examine the conditions for immigration and integration work and offer strategies that are tailored to the specific requirements of the municipalities. This shows how important the cooperation between local actors and urban institutions is to create sustainable integration structures.
The developments in the Cabrini are part of this greater event, which shows that integration work in Germany is subject to a dynamic change. In view of the migration movements since 2014, the need to continuously evaluate the integration approaches and to adapt if necessary. The distribution of the community and solidarity are crucial to promote harmonious coexistence and to ensure that nobody is left behind.
