New family calendar 2026: Free for everyone in Schmalkalden-Meiningen!

The new family calendar 2026 from the child protection / early help network in the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district is now available and brings a breath of fresh air to support local families. Again Rhoen Canal reports, the great project with a print run of 2,000 pieces is not only a practical tool, but also a work of art designed by students majoring in design and media technology.

The calendar serves as an important source of information to inform families about various support structures and to make the network's offerings visible. On the back you will find an overview of important contact points such as the women's shelter, the police or the children's hospice. This information is crucial for quickly finding offers of help.

Creativity meets child protection

The artistic design of the monthly pages is particularly pleasing, as it provides an insight into the creative streak of the young artists. Dörthe Heilmann-Lang, who has been an experienced teacher for 23 years, was responsible for the layout and image editing. From photography to pop art – each page is shaped by a wide variety of talents:

  • Titelbild: Lara Rolf (Fotografie)
  • Januar: Clara L. Ruß (Flächengestaltung)
  • Februar: Ilona Fajt (Papierarbeit)
  • März: Maria Krannich (Fotografie)
  • April: Anna Amalia Riechel (Fotografie)
  • Mai: Alina Müller (Fotografie)
  • Juni: Anna-Maria Böhm, Melina Schmidt, Ronja Schmidt (Modellbauzimmer)
  • Juli: Sophia Fischer (Fotografie)
  • August: Helena Langner (Zufallsmuster, bearbeitet)
  • September: Ilona Fajt (nachbearbeitetes Zufallsmuster)
  • Oktober: Selina-Marie Ortlieb (Fotografie)
  • November: Leonie Pauline Wagner (Fotografie)
  • Dezember: Josephine Triebel (Pop Art-Gemälde)

Sandra Paula, child protection and network coordination officer, underlines the importance of the calendar: “It opens the door to offers of help.” Families can only receive the printed copies after prior request at the district office. An important measure to ensure that the offers can actually be used.

Support for children

The network itself includes a large number of institutions that are actively involved in child protection and are constantly growing. In Zella-Mehlis, for example, there are 22 emergency islands where children can find protection in dangerous situations. This and other information is part of the regular prevention events held under the auspices of Coordination Office for Child Protection be organized.

The area of child protection is not only anchored in law, but also a task for society as a whole, as can be seen in numerous federal initiatives. Institutions such as the Federal Working Group for Child and Youth Protection e.V. advocate for the rights and needs of children through to special child protection departments. They all work to fulfill the protective mandate of child and youth welfare.

An important goal of all these efforts is to improve the development opportunities for children, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Federal Foundation for Early Help also supports expectant and young parents to ensure a healthy, violence-free upbringing. The family calendar is therefore not only a practical date tool, but also a symbol of the community that stands up for children.

Interested families can view the calendar the child protection website View and discover information about the help offers. The distribution will also take place at the upcoming child protection conferences, which will take place on October 21st and 22nd, 2025, and at the “Medical Child Protection” conference on November 26th, 2025. A great step to make the offerings even more widely accessible and reach many families.
