Schmalkalden-Meiningen, a picturesque region in Thuringia, is about to shine in the tourism spotlight. A new travel guide entitled “We travel the world” will soon open its pages to the interested travel community. Volume 2 of the travel guide covers a total of 47 destinations, and our region is proud to be represented with five first-class destinations. Particularly noteworthy is this Steam locomotive adventure world, which is listed as one of the highlight destinations. The two travel bloggers Caro and Martin even devote 22 pages to the region in their book and hope to generate national attention.
The Schmalkalden-Meiningen region has developed into a real insider tip in recent years. The town of Schmalkalden in particular, known for its charming old town with well-preserved half-timbered houses, has a few surprises in store. Here visitors can not only see the impressive Wilhelmsburg Castle admire, but also enjoy the picturesque nature.
